A Primary Insulator Pole (PIP) is used in conjunction with sets of other glass-fibre poles (known as "secondary" poles) to carry out measurement and maintenance work on overhead line equipment which may be energised. The PIP provides the necessary insulation between the energised equipment and the operator. It is an essential part of every set of poles and tools.
PIPs are manufactured by Cotec and are distributed exclusively by PBWel (see EFT-17451 for more details).
